A celebration of the vibrant music & dance of Africa and the African Diaspora
Dig down into your soul and journey to the crossroads. Spoken word poetry over deep, funky riffs, exquisite dance and sweet melodies, and a dizzying array of traditional and contemporary instruments all on one stage.
This is an evening where the roots of the African Diaspora reveal their magic through music, dance, and a very deep groove. National Slam Competition winner REGIE GIBSON's powerful spoken word poetry is accompanies by the nasty funk grooves of the NEON JUJU band. Alvin Ailey dancer LESLIE SALMON JONES' spiritual Afro-Caribbean movement is countered by the rhythmic power of master Ghanaian dancer NANI AGBELI. The sweet and funky Afro-Latin jazz melodies of the SUGARFOOT BAND are balanced by the unique beauty of the mbira instrument from Zimbabwe. This is a celebration of the spiritual side of Africa's reach, its history, and its culture through the diaspora. You don't want to miss this rare opportunity to catch all of this under one roof, on one stage!
Wine and beer will be available as well as African and Afro-Latin inspired food provided by A Hot Dish catering (see below for menu).
